Hyatt Hotels has announced the debut of Thompson Hollywood, a luxury lifestyle hotel situated on Wilcox Avenue near Hollywood and Vine. The new 11-story hotel has 190 mid-century-inspired guestrooms, including 16 suites, as well as a signature restaurant from acclaimed Los Angeles-based chef Lincoln Carson and a destination rooftop lounge and pool with sweeping views of the city.
Owned by the Relevant Group, the hotel has been designed by architect Steinberg Hart and interior architecture studio Tara Bernerd & Partners. The overall design draws upon the West Coast Modernist movement with a "dash" of Hollywood glamour as inspirations. Upon entry, a trellis-covered walkway leads guests to the lobby adorned in mid-toned timber and plenty of greenery. The terrazzo floor has a metal inlay pattern that complements the mid-century and contemporary furniture, bespoke Tara Bernerd & Partners rugs and terrazzo reception desk. The lobby bar—topped with retro-green onyx—serves up coffee, cocktails and casual bites.
Floor-to-ceiling windows can be found throughout the property, including the guestrooms, offering vantage points of the Hollywood Hills and beyond. Guest bathrooms have walls and vanities finished in terrazzo and offer products from D.S. & DURGA. An honor bar, Egyptian cotton linens and 55-inch smart TVs round out the amenities in the guestrooms.
Thompson Hollywood have two food and beverage experiences created and operated by Ten Five Hospitality. These include the Martin Brudnizki-designed restaurant Mes Amis, a French brasserie, and Bar Lis, a rooftop lounge with views of Hollywood and Greater Los Angeles. Helmed by Chef Carson, Mes Amis (French for “My Friends”) draws inspiration from cafés and brasseries from Paris to Lyon. The menu reinterprets classic French dishes, using fresh produce and ingredients from local farms and markets, including the Hollywood Farmers’ Market.
Designed by Bernadette Blanc, Bar Lis sits atop Thompson Hollywood. The new rooftop lounge serves inventive cocktails, as well as crudités, locally sourced seafood and authentic bistro classics. Pretty cool: Bar Lis’ retractable roof ensures all-weather, year-round entertainment while a dedicated entrance with a private elevator allows for more exclusive soirees. At night, Bar Lis comes alive with vintage and contemporary DJ sets.
Thompson Hollywood is located near the Sunset Strip, Runyon Canyon, the Hollywood Bowl, Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Boulevard, the Capitol Records Building and more. Other Thompson Hotels debuting in 2021 include Thompson Savannah, Thompson Denver, Thompson Buckhead and Thompson Austin.
