Uga, the boutique Sri Lankan hotel group, has announced the upcoming launch of its seventh property, Uga Prāva, in May 2025. Set along the shores of Tangalle on the south Sri Lankan coast, Uga Prāva comprises seven suites, a private beach, a signature restaurant and bar, and an infinity pool.
Surrounded by several acres of gardens that lead to a private beach, Uga Prāva offers a secluded haven just three miles from town. Accessible from Colombo with its international flight connections via private car transfer, the new beachside property links perfectly with Uga’s properties in the country’s capital (Uga Riva), central tea trails region (the newly opened Uga Halloowella) and Yala National Park (Uga Chena Huts).

Uga Prāva offers seven ocean-facing suites with a modern and minimalist design. Soft linens, woven rattan and stone textures inspired by coral are incorporated throughout the property. All suites have a balcony or terrace, well-suited for in-suite dining, alongside super king beds and large bathrooms complete with a spacious shower. Uga Prāva offers guests three categories of suites to choose from. These include:
- Hermit Suites – The property has two Hermit Suites with ocean views. Perfect for couples, families and solo travelers, these suites have spacious bathrooms equipped with his and hers vanities along with a walk-in shower, which opens onto a private balcony with a jacuzzi.
- Horizon Suites – Three Horizon Suites are spaced out on three levels and have a super king bed, private balcony and bathroom with bathtub, along with his and hers vanities.
- Coral Suites – Designed for families with a king-size bed and two single beds, these suites have two separate bathrooms including an oversized bathtub.

The on-site restaurant and bar provide indoor and outdoor dining. The menus highlight fresh, locally sourced ingredients while championing traditional Sri Lankan flavors. Guests can enjoy "ocean-inspired feasts, with coral-like presentation and color palettes that mirror the beauty of the marine world."
In addition, Uga Prāva offers a range of wellness treatments that "harness the power of local herbal remedies." Tip: Private yoga and meditation sessions are also available upon request.
Tangalle and its surrounds, in Sri Lanka’s Southern Province, is best known for its mild climate and sandy beaches, where some of the world’s best surfing conditions await. Guests can also discover the local culture with cycling tours of fishing villages. Local excursions also include fishing adventures and a chance to learn the ancient art of pottery with a local family.
