Waldorf Astoria Chicago Renovation to Be Completed This Spring

Waldorf Astoria Chicago is embarking on a property-wide renovation project, with an estimated completion of spring 2022. As part of the revamp, the hotel will debut a signature restaurant, cocktail bar and lobby lounge. The spa and guestrooms will be also updated.

KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group, which first designed the interiors in 2009, will lead the renovation project. Paying homage to Coco Chanel as a cultural figure, the KTGY Simeone Deary team merges the hotel’s roots inspired by French masters with a modern design.

Waldorf Astoria Chicago will introduce Brass Tack, a signature brasserie concept drawing inspirations and ingredients from the Midwest. The space will serve as an ideal setting for group dining and the menu will feature shared plates. Paying tribute to the original at the brand flagship, Waldorf Astoria New York, the hotel will also introduce a lobby-level Peacock Alley lounge with a black and white marble fireplace, and collective books inspired by the Gold Coast and Chicago. Bernard’s, a beloved Chicago haunt, will return to the hotel, offering a craft beverage program rooted in cocktails, artisanal wines and spirits.

Guestroom and suite designs will be updated with white and black color schemes, incorporating added influences from Coco Chanel’s style and providing a Parisian apartment feel. The upgraded rooms will showcase new mirrors and furnishings incorporated throughout. Beds will feature new floral-inspired upholstered headboards.

The hotel’s redesigned suites will launch as new spaces. Both the 2,400-square-foot Presidential Suite and the 1,800-square-foot Astor Suite will showcase black and white color accents, polished wood flooring and metals. The Presidential Suite will also have a fitness room with a Peloton bike, Echelon Mirror, hydro rower, treadmill, and free weights.

The Waldorf Astoria Chicago Spa & Health Club facilities will also receive a refresh and the addition of a new couple’s treatment room to align with the property’s design vision.
