What’s Next for Mandarin Oriental

Beijing China
The company will open its second hotel in Beijing next year.

Mandarin Oriental has released a look at what to expect from the company over the next couple of months, including a new suite, two new hotels and a big renovation project.

This summer the Mandarin Oriental, Paris took the wraps off its Parisian Apartment suite, which we hear is one of the largest suites in the city. With a design that aims to combine classic Parisian Haussman style with New Age, Art Deco influences, the whole-floor suite has a lushly decorated terrace, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a dining room and a kitchen. Tip: Guests here can treat themselves to a bespoke meal by two Michelin-starred Chef Thierry Marx, paired with the finest Grands Crus selected by Chef Sommelier David Biraud, World Vice-Champion of Sommellerie.

In the fall, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s River Wing will reopen after a seven-month reno. Expect larger rooms and suites, plus updates to the lobby, swimming pools and restaurants. The new interior design is by Jeffrey Wilkes of Design Wilkes, incorporating bespoke Thai fabrics and some beautiful artwork from the hotel’s collection.

Coming soon: the Hotel Santiago in the exclusive Las Condes neighborhood will reopen as the Mandarin Oriental, Santiago, following a major renovation bringing a new design to its accommodations, gardens and public areas that aims to fuse local influences with Mandarin Oriental’s Asian heritage.

Finally, looking ahead to early next year all eyes will be on China as Mandarin Oriental opens its second property in Beijing. Guests of Mandarin Oriental Qianmen, Beijing, will have the chance to live in modernized versions if the city’s hutongs, traditional courtyard houses connected by narrow lanes and alleyways that date back to the 13th century – an architectural style unique to the city. The hotel will be dispersed throughout the Qianmen East Hutong Quarter, alongside privately owned traditional residences, retail outlets, restaurants, bars and cultural venues.
