Winter in New Zealand: Touch of Spice Offers Luxe Accommodations

During New Zealand’s winter months, June through September, the country transforms into a winter wonderland, good for skiing and snowboarding. Whale watching also peaks in June and July, while airfares are low and less tourists visit. Touch of Spice, which specializes in luxury experiences, accommodations, and customizable destination management, recently announced new additions to its line including the expansion of its newly launched Residence Collection.

According to the company, The Residence Collection has been extremely popular with guests, and to meet increasing demand, Touch of Spice has expanded the collection to include two new properties.

The first is Bron-Yr-Aur, a countryside residence located near Coronet Peak, one of Queenstown’s premier ski resorts. The property offers views of mountain vistas and rolling hills.

The other addition to the Residence Collection is Mahana Villa, located in Nelson, New Zealand, a premier winery destination. This property is the former private residence of Glenn Schaeffer, an American-born hotelier, author, art collector, and philanthropist. Offering views of Mt. Arthur, the villa sits at the top of Mahana Vineyards. It sleeps up to fourteen in three private en-suite accommodations in the Owners Villa, two accommodations in the Loft, designed for for couples, and a one-bedroom Spa Suite. Mahana Villa was curated by Schaeffer himself, and combines contemporary works of arts with antiques, collectible furniture, and luxurious furnishings.

Guests can arrive via helicopter, and take part in picnics at Abel Tasman National Park as well as horse-riding along the coast. They can spend time at local winemaker or take a guided tour of the most extensive private art collection in New Zealand.

Touch of Spice has also partnered with luxury accommodation providers in New Zealand to further its guests’ experiences.  The Residence Collection is expanding accommodations to include exclusive access to the Rahimoana, an award-winning presidential villa on top of a private cliff offering 360-degree views of oceans, islands, sunsets and landscapes

Another new addition is The Penthouse by Eichardt’s, located in central Queenstown. It offers views across Lake Wakatipu to snow-capped mountains. The Penthouse is located on the top of the Eichardt Private Hotel.

The recent Residence Collection expansion also includes exclusive use of luxury lodges in New Zealand like the Otahuna Lodge outside Christchurch and Minaret Station, an alpine lodge in Wanaka only accessible by helicopter.

In-house amenities for the Residence Collection include private chefs, daily servicing, private wine collections, art collections, butler service, and in-residence spa treatments.
