Gear Up For an Adventure in Iceland

Land Rover

Frontiers is introducing a Land Rover "self-drive" itinerary across Iceland -- fasten those seatbelts. Inside a Land Rover Discovery 4, travelers will roam across glaciers, magma fields and volcanoes. During this five-day trip, clients will travel with a minimum of two Land Rover Experience Instructors and a tour director. The instructors will be there to offer guidance and support, so travelers shouldn't feel intimidated.

Along the way, guests will stay in luxury boutique accommodations like Hotel Borg, which is an Art Deco landmark. Drivers will also fuel up each night with delicious meals. This trip is available in February and March 2016.

An adventurous spirit will be essential on this trip (imagine driving through piles of snow and ice). However, this trip isn't all about driving. There will be time to see waterfalls, Iceland's Golden Circle, black sand beaches (which guests will drive on) and the Northern Lights.

Geyser

Our favorite day of the itinerary is day four. During this segment, drivers will explore Þingvellir National Park. This is where you can see the park's rift valley, the area where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are visibly moving away from each other. This movement has created a deep scar in the earth and we say, this is one of those snap a picture moments. There will also be time to see several hot geysers, including Stokkur. This geyser spouts 130 feet in the air every few minutes, so travelers won't be able to miss it.
