Essex House Reopens as JW Marriott Hotel

What a difference a day makes: The erstwhile Jumeirah Essex House became a Marriott property this morning when it reopened as a JW Marriott Essex House New York, the brand’s first hotel in New York City.

We hear upcoming improvements to the newly rebranded property will include an Executive Lounge—an autograph feature of JW hotels worldwide—that will be built in early 2013. The 509-room hotel is located on Central Park South in Manhattan’s renowned midtown neighborhood, with top views of Central Park and close to Fifth Avenue shopping, dining and entertainment.

Stephen Batta was named General Manager of JW Marriott Essex House New York. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Batta has spent the majority of his career in the New York City market. Most recently, Batta was the General Manager of the Renaissance New York Hotel 57, where he placed a strong focus on leadership development.
