Capella Hotels & Resorts made a splash when it opened a luxury hotel in Georgetown in spring 2013. Horst H. Schulze’s luxury brand debuted next to the historic C&O Canal with a rooftop lounge and infinity pool, 49 guest rooms, a fitness center, and Personal Assistants available 24/7 to “curate every imaginable aspect” of a guest’s stay. Now we’re hearing reports that the Capella Washington D.C. will be acquired and rebranded by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.

According to the Washington Business Journal, the hotel’s owners, Castleton Hotel Partners I LLC, have reached a deal to sell the hotel to the Dallas-based luxury hospitality group for an undisclosed sum. Located at 1050 31st St. NW, Capella Washington DC was formerly an office building before being converted into an ultra-luxe hotel. (It snagged the title of “best rehab/reuse project” in the Washington Business Journal's Best Real Estate Deals of 2013.) It’s reported that Rosewood was previously looking to construct a new-build hotel in Georgetown.
