Memorial Day has come and gone, which means we’re planning ahead for summer vacations. If you’re considering a jaunt to the jetset Mediterranean playground of Monaco, consider timing your trip to coincide with the annual Sporting Summer Festival. Running from July 4- August 23, the music festival hosts some of the biggest stars on the planet.
This year is the 40th anniversary, so beyond the fireworks, there will be special concerts like Robin Thicke and Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, the New York City disco and R&B band which represents 40 years (and several generations) of music. Other buzzworthy concerts include Lana Del Rey, Julio Iglesias, Liza Minnelli, Elton John, Kevin Costner & Modern West, Gipsy Kings, Boy George, Paolo Conte, and a Jackson family reunion.
There will be four standing concerts: -M- + Yodelice + HollySiz; Neil Young & Crazy Horse; Macklemore & Ryan Lewis; and Marcus Miller & Jeff Beck and Guests. For the full run-down of events, see the official website: www.sportingsummerfestival.com
Note that Monte-Carlo's legendary Hotel de Paris doesn't close for renovations until October.
