Montenegro Calls Yachting Enthusiasts

Calling all yacht enthusiasts to South-eastern Europe: Montenegro is positioning itself to become the next super yacht destination.

Many superyacht charters are combining a trip to Montenegro with one to Croatia and even Venice. Montenegro has 45 miles of beach and a wealth of cultural and religious monuments, a rainforest and one of the deepest canyons in the world.

Yachts can cruise into Porto Montenegro, which can accommodate a range of berths from 12 meters to 150 meters, and is located in the Bay of Kotor.

Coming soon: Regent Hotels & Resorts has unveiled design details for its newest resort, Regent Porto Montenegro, set to debut this summer. Looking for exclusivity? This place has it in spades, along with plenty of space. The resort will have 51 double rooms, 35 one-to three-bedroom suites, three restaurants, event space and a secluded beach accessible solely by boat. (See? Exclusive!)

The luxury residences have one to three bedrooms and full-sized kitchens. Most rooms look out over the sea and marina, while others overlook the surrounding mountains. Bonus: All rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi.

The top pick is the Regent Residence, with up to 4,327 square feet of indoor space and 2,152 square feet on multiple terraces. This Residence has three bedrooms with king-sized beds, a full kitchen, a dining room, living room, a study, four and a half bathrooms and panoramic views of the Bay of Kotor. Bonus: The suite's private outdoor Jacuzzi also looks out over the Bay.

Dining options will include an all-day restaurant serving local fare, the Gourmet Corner patisserie and deli and The Library Bar, which will serve Mediterranean and Asian-inspired tapas along with Regent’s signature afternoon teatime. The Library Bar will also have an open fireplace during the winter and an outdoor terrace with sunset views during the summer. The Regent Lounge will be the ideal place to cap the day with its selection of cru and grand cru champagnes, cognacs and a selection of the finest scotch.

Should you choose to get to Montenegro by air instead of boat, there are three international airports - Tivat (three miles), Dubrovnik (30 miles) and Podgorica (56 miles). The Porto Montenegro marina has 250 boat berths, a village center with informal cafes, waterfront restaurants and upscale retail stores offering both local and international designer brands. Village amenities include a day spa, hair salon, yacht club, nautical museum and Lido pool. Development is already underway to increase the marina’s capacity to 420 berths.
