The tiny Balkan country of Montenegro is seeing a wealth of exciting new hotel projects. Not only is GHM Hotels headed to the coastline, but One&Only will also open a property in 2018. Located at the entrance to Boka Bay, One&Only Portonovi will be One&Only’s first resort in Europe.
In big design news, Jean-Michel Gathy has been appointed as the principal designer; Gathy is responsible for the glam interiors of luxe hotels like Cheval Blanc Randheli in the Maldives, multiple Aman resorts, The Setai in Miami, St. Regis Lhasa resort, and The Chedi Andermatt in Switzerland. Jean-Michel Gathy and the team from Denniston International Architects will also design the exterior spaces of the resort.
Situated on 58 acres overlooking the Adriatic Sea, the One&Only Portonovi will have 120 guestrooms and suites, a marina, a tennis academy, restaurants and retail shops, plus a spa in partnership with Henri Chenot. There will also be residences.
