New General Manager Named for Shangri-La Paris

It’s not even three years old, but The Shangri-La Paris will be getting a new general manager next month.

Today, General Manager Alain Borgers emailed a handwritten note to industry insiders announcing that he would be moving on to the Philippines:

“After five years at the helm of the Shangri-La Hotel Paris, it is now time for me to move on by taking new responsibilities within Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts," he wrote. "At the end of September, I will be transferred to Manila, Philippines, as Area Manager as well as General Manager of Makati Shangri-La, Manila.

“Along with this news, it is also my great pleasure to announce the arrival of Mr. Stefan Bollhalder as the incoming General Manager of Shangri-La Hotel Paris. Stefan will take his new post on Monday, September 23. Stefan is very familiar with Shangri-La after having been, in his recent past, among other positions, the Area Manager of Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong.”

The hotel, the brand’s first property in Europe, opened in December 2010 after significant restoration to a historic building across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower.
