Art lovers should head to The Venetian Las Vegas to check out the larger than life installation titled LOVE, by artist Laura Kimpton.

The piece, perforated with bird-shaped stamps, spells LOVE in ruby red steel letters that rise 12 feet tall and collectively span 36 feet across, located in the hotel’s Waterfall Atrium.

Kimpton created the sculpture as part of her Monumental Word Series. She’s known for her mixed media installations and sculptures, for which she first achieved recognition thanks to her large scale displays at the 2009 Burning Man festival in Black Rock, Nevada. Prior to its displaying at The Venetian, LOVE was installed at the Life is Beautiful festival in downtown Las Vegas during September 2016; the sculpture is set to return to the festival in 2017.

Kimpton’s art draws from her desire to question traditional views on social interaction; she attempts to invoke a reaction and discussion, which ultimately completes her projects, through her art.

LOVE is about being free to love who you want, the way you want,” the artist said. “The bird stamps in the letters represent being able to follow your dreams, which is the message that I hope will inspire people as they interact with the piece. Las Vegas is the city where people pursue their dreams, and this sculpture will act as a touchstone for this pursuit.”
