Party Time: Barclay Bar in NYC Launches Retro Celebration

We've heard that The Barclay Bar, tucked inside the InterContinental New York Barclay, is putting a retro twist on the weeknight wind-down with its Decades Cocktail Hour.

Each week night the bar will celebrate a different era with decade-specific music, moving images and $8 featured cocktails from 5:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m.

Fancy being a flapper? Mondays it’s the 1920s and the 1930s with the Sidecar and French 75 as featured cocktails. Channel 1940s Mad Men chic on Tuesdays with Bellinis and Harvey Wallbangers. Wednesdays honor the psychedelic 1960s with the Vodka Martini, Thursdays get groovy in the 1970s with Caiparinhas and Fridays, the ‘80s and ‘90s offer Tequila Sunrises and Cosmopolitans.

Five original video installations will be displayed nightly serving as kinetic portraits of each decade. Drawing from a impressive collection of archival footage, filmmaker Cary Kehayan has assembled love letters to the past.

Renowned music consultants Music Styling have also compiled a series of custom playlists for each decade, filled with quintessential ditties that evoke the spirit of the times.
