Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco named Donald Bowman ([email protected]) as its new general manager. Bowman is a familiar name in the hospitality industry; he launched the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas (serving as hotel manager from 2008 to 2011), then went on to open Ian Schrager’s new hotel, PUBLIC Chicago, and most recently worked as general manager of Carmel Valley Ranch in Carmel, CA.
Capella Hotels and Resorts named Alex Obertop ([email protected]) general manager for the soon-to-open Capella Washington D.C. Obertop comes to the role from the Breidenbacher Hof in Dusseldorf, Germany. In his new role, he will oversee pre-opening activities, such as promotions, marketing endeavors and generating interest in key domestic and international markets. He will also be responsible for directing the property’s Capella Personal Assistants.
Hein Olckers has been appointed regional director, learning and development for North America, Mexico, Caribbean for Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. He brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience.
