September has arrived and the new year will be here before you know it. What plans have you made to ensure you are up-to-date on the latest tools and techniques to move your business forward? Is your knowledge of destinations fresh? Do you have the right contacts to get your clients the high level of service and the right property that fits their needs? Have you updated your business plan for the upcoming year?
The new year can be daunting, but it is one filled with new opportunities, and planning is key when looking to reach and surpass your goals. And it is never too early to start—In fact, we are already in the beginning stages of planning many of our 2012 events, including Luxury Travel Expo.
Where do you start? What can you do to plan? Each month, I participate in a conference call where all the marketers share their best practices, challenges and successes. The number of new ideas that result from these exchanges is phenomenal, and we leverage them for the growth of our businesses. What groups do you access for information? If you are employed by a large agency, do you lean on your colleagues for recommendations? If you are independent, perhaps you lean on your consortia for knowledge. Perhaps you use resources like Luxury Travel Advisor to keep you up-to-speed. Whichever avenue you prefer, I feel strongly that face-to-face interactions connect people in a much stronger fashion than picking up the phone or surfing the web. I am happy to report that our marketing group met recently in our New York offices, and simply sharing ideas in a communal atmosphere has made me rely more on my colleagues.
Make a Connection
Networking is gold. Take a step away from your office, invest in yourself and attend Luxury Travel Expo. Make the necessary connections that you can use to exceed your Wall Street CEO's expectations! Shake hands with the cruise line executive you have been reading about in these pages. Under one roof, you will find over 500 exhibitors on our trade show floor. You will be greeted by representatives from cruise lines, tour operators, hoteliers, consortia and more. Start in Las Vegas and travel to Jamaica, Japan, Hollywood and Prague in just a few short hours. What better way to explore the world—and you don’t even need your passport!
Looking to exchange information before you even step foot on the trade show floor? Apply for the second annual Luxury Travel Exchange where you are able to meet one-on-one with suppliers of your interest. Held on the Tuesday of Luxury Travel Expo, it is the ideal venue for you to maximize your time and forge relationships with participating suppliers, learn about new products and offerings, or to receive updates from suppliers in an intimate setting.
