Luxury Travel Advisor (LTA) was on hand last week as The Bodhi Tree Foundation welcomed both consumers and some of the notabe travel industry leaders to "An Intimate Dinner with The Bodhi Tree Foundation" at Riverpark, a Tom Colicchio restaurant, in New York City.

The event attracted roughly 150 people. And although we do not get exact figures, both the silent and live auctions held during the night raised thousands of dollars.

Partnering with LTA, The Bodhi Tree Foundation intends to expand interest and knowledge on the very important issue of sustainable tourism. LTA was instrumental in promoting the "Travel Powers Change" initiative by allowing readers to select the grant winner.

The Evening highlights included:

A Conversation with Edward Norton, Filmmaker, UN Ambassador to Biodiversity and Board President, Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust led by Costas Christ, editor at large for National Geographic Traveler

Stories from Peter Matthiessen, one of America's greatest authors, explorer and traveler, shared some of his marvelous adventures and observations about our planet

A presentation honoring The Bodhi Tree Foundation's "Travel Powers Change" 2012 grant recipients, in partnership with Luxury Travel Advisor magazine.

Founded in 2008, The Bodhi Tree Foundation strives to mobilize travelers and the travel and tourism industry to support underserved communities and endangered places.
