Los Angeles-based sbe is scheduled to open The Redbury New York in the first quarter of 2016. The CIM Group recently purchased the Martha Washington Hotel located at 29 East 29th St, and brought on sbe Hotel Group to manage the existing property, in collaboration with photographer Matthew Rolston. sbe Hotel Group also brought The Redbury New York into membership of Preferred Hotels & Resorts.
Rolston is teaming with the sbe’s development arm Dakota Development and Los Angeles-based Avenue Interior Design on the hotel’s redesign. The Redbury New York will incorporate elements of the “Tin Pan Alley” into the property's design. We don't yet know what the rooms will look like, but we are hoping for an edgy vibe just like the Redbury Hollywood.
Marta, Union Square Hospitality’s existing restaurant concept, will remain open on the hotel’s ground floor. The restaurant has an open kitchen with two wood-burning ovens and an open-fire grill. The property will also share amenities with sbe’s SLS Park Avenue hotel that’s scheduled to debut this summer. There will also be shared meetings and events spaces. However, we are most excited to have a drink at the bar. The Library at the Redbury Hollywood is known for its fancy scene and hand-crafted cocktails, and we think NYC will provide a lively backdrop.
The Redbury brand was launched in 2010 in Los Angeles as a hospitality category for sbe. The original concept was envisioned by sbe's founder and CEO Sam Nazarian and Matthew Rolston.
