Scotland's Gleneagles Hotel to Open Event Space

Following the recent Ryder Cup, The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland is planning to build a new 8,200-square-foot event space: The Gleneagles Arena. Located within Gleneagles’ 850 acre estate, as part of its Activity School complex, the Gleneagles Arena will turn one of the property's current equestrian arenas into an event venue that also doubles as a four-court indoor tennis center.

Due to launch this coming spring, the new space can accommodate up to 2,000 guests for conferences, exhibitions, product launches, concerts and team-building events.

Top features will include:

-          A new combined reception and retail area
-          650 viewing seats
-          Loading bay access doors
-          63 integrated hanging points tested to 1000 lbs.
-          200A power supply with MCCB panel with a variety of sockets
-          A dedicated access route from car park, with 500 spaces
-          LED house lights and oil-fired heating

The Gleneagles Arena project represents a $1 million investment and is the latest step in several recent upgrades. These have included a $8 million refurbishment of The Club earlier in 2014, a nearly $5 million overhaul of the Dormy Clubhouse in 2011, the installation of The Blue Bar - a new outdoor whisky and cigar bar - in the same year, and a $1.6 million investment in its PGA Centenary Course in 2012. Last month, Gleneagles completed a $400,000 refurbishment of its flagship conference venue, The Gleneagles Suite.

The hotel has 232 guestrooms and 14 function rooms. Good to know: Gleneagles’ existing equestrian offering at the Activity School will be retained, with coaching for all levels still being offered to leisure and corporate guests alike in its small arena and outdoor facilities.
