A&K to Resume Small Group Travel in Africa and the Middle East

Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) will resume operating small group journeys in Africa with a climb up Mount Kilimanjaro beginning this week. This will be followed by other 2020 “bucket list” journeys, including the “Great Migration Safari in Style” and “Egypt & the Nile.”

“After months spent at home, travelers are ready to get away but are asking ‘where can we go that is safe?’” said Abercrombie & Kent founder Geoffrey Kent in a press announcement. “Our guests are looking for places that offer wide-open spaces and lend themselves to physical distancing, or the novelty of exploring a completely new destination, knowing they’re safe in the A&K cocoon.”

To inspire travelers to dream about where to go next, Abercrombie & Kent has just released a digital Small Group Journeys brochure with day-by-day itineraries for 49 Luxury Small Group Journeys, Luxury Family Journeys and Marco Polo Journeys.

Not only are East Africa and Egypt among the first international destinations people are returning to, but A&K says it is seeing that interest continue into 2021, as well as Botswana, Southern Africa, Morocco, Jordan and Israel, Alaska and the Galapagos Islands.

“This is Africa’s moment,” says Kent. “Safaris are a natural fit as we begin traveling again, featuring small boutique camps with plenty of space and privacy. Plus, tourism plays an important role in protecting endangered wildlife, not only by keeping poachers at bay, but also bringing much-needed funding to local conservation projects.”

Peace of Mind When Booking and Traveling

A&K’s small-group journeys are well-suited to travel with physical distancing already in place: transfers are private, vehicles are never more than half-full, group size averages just 14 guests, and are led from start to finish with a resident tour director. A&K also fully vets each partner, including restaurants, hotels, boats, transportation providers and venues. In additional, A&K has established enhanced health and safety protocols that meet or exceed the latest global health and safety protocols recommended by “Safe Travels” from the World Travel & Tourism Council and “TourCare” from the United States Tour Operators Association, Canadian Association of Tour Operators and the European Tourism Association.

To provide peace of mind to travelers, A&K offers a flexible booking policy, which allows cancellations for COVID-19-related reasons through 2021 when booked by December 31, 2020, with the ability to change or cancel up to 30 days prior to departure in the event of a COVID-19-related reason. Good to know: Every departure is guaranteed to operate with a minimum of two guests.
