Classic Vacation’s David Hu Steps Down; Melissa Krueger Appointed CEO

Classic Vacations, a global luxury travel business, has announced the confirmation of Melissa Krueger as chief executive officer, following the departure of David Hu, who served as president and CEO for the past 13 years.

Outgoing CEO Hu, who stewarded the company through some of its most challenging times, leaves Classic set up to succeed financially and operationally. “I have had the remarkable privilege to lead a talented, dedicated, and passionate group of people to whom I refer to as my CV family. But the time has come for me to focus my time, energy and efforts on my own family with a personal sabbatical,” Hu said in a press statement. “As we emerge from the pandemic, Melissa is the right leader for Classic Vacations. Her knowledge, passion, and unwavering faith in Classic Vacations will be able to drive the company into a new era.”

Krueger has provided “winning direction and inspiring vision” within the organization, contributing to the efficient scaling of the business. She has been with the company for nine years, most recently leading its Groups division as vice president and general manager. According to Classic, as an accomplished leader and 20-year veteran in the travel industry, she has proven her ability to deliver value to all stakeholders

“Along with my leadership team, I am deeply committed to the long-term success of our employees, customers and suppliers; and I am passionate about the strength of our products and services and the opportunities they present,” said Krueger. “As we lead in an ever-evolving marketplace, we must welcome possibilities for new ways of doing our work, partnering with others, and delivering value to customers.”

The Najafi Companies, a private investment firm and owner of Classic Vacations, has great confidence in Krueger, having worked closely with her this past year.

Founded in 1978, Classic Vacations has grown to represent over 100 destinations around the world and offers a full line of accommodations, from mid-tier to luxury (including suites, villas, and residences), first class and private transportation options, and unique tours and excursions in Abu Dhabi, Asia, Australia, Canada, Caribbean, Costa Rica, Dubai, Europe, Fiji, Hawaii, Mainland USA, Maldives, Mexico, New Zealand, Oman, Seychelles and Tahiti.
