Extraordinary Journeys Adds Uruguay to South America Portfolio

Extraordinary Journeys has added Uruguay to its destinations of specialty in South America. Known for its beach towns, slow travel offerings and culinary depth, Uruguay has long been a favorite holiday destination for South American travelers. It is quickly gaining the attention of North Americans looking for an understated destination full of cultural richness. The addition of Uruguay expands Extraordinary Journeys’ presence in South America, which currently includes Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Chile, with more destinations to be added this year.

To mark the launch of Uruguay as a new destination in its portfolio, Extraordinary Journeys has crafted four sample itineraries that showcase the destination as a vessel for slow travel, road trips, beach getaways, cultural immersion, culinary adventures and a thriving wine culture.

Travelers can learn about Uruguayan wines and boutique vineyards in regions including Carmelo and Colonia.
  • “Highlights of Uruguay” – Uruguay offers a distinctive vacation experience with its beaches, cultural heritage and a relaxed atmosphere. Whether strolling through the historic streets of Colonia del Sacramento, basking on the shores of José Ignacio or enjoying the energy of Montevideo, the country invites travelers to discover a range of experiences that can be tailored to individual preferences.
  • “Uruguay & Argentina: Gauchos and Estancias” – This nine-day itinerary combines the best of Argentina and Uruguay’s gaucho culture with a city break in Buenos Aires. Travelers will have the opportunity to experience centuries-old estancia (ranch) life in Córdoba and José Ignacio while enjoying communal, candle-lit dinners and farm-to-table asados over a blazing fire.
