Donna Karan Plans to Open a Hotel in the Hamptons

Donna KaranFashion designers are taking the hotel world by storm-- from Armani's sleek hotel interiors in Milan and Dubai to Missoni's signature stripes bedecking hot spots in Kuwait and Edinburgh.

The latest to join the fray is Donna Karan, who has reportedly invested in a multi-million dollar property in the Hamptons, and plans to give it a makeover in time to open next spring. Located on an 11.5-acre spread in Bridgehampton, The Enclave Inn only has 10 rooms, and we imagine that once it opens, it'll be impossible to score one. Styleite describes Karan's passion for Long Island; she and her daughter Gabby already own a lot of property in the South Fork. And the designer waxes poetic on her web site: “For me, summers have always been about the beach — the sky and ocean, the white clouds, rich sands, the wind playing on fabric. Everywhere I look I find inspiration. As a New Yorker, my home in East Hampton represents the calm in the chaos of city living. The house is always filled with family and friends, taking long walks, barbecuing and being near, in or on the water.
