McCabe World Travel’s Annual “Thrive” Event Concludes

McCabe World Travel’s annual event, Thrive, was held at Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, VA, from February 8-10, 2024. The event convened 50 McCabe World Travel advisors and staff, along with 43 luxury hoteliers and 30 representatives from luxury cruise, tour and specialty operators, creating a platform for networking, collaboration and education within the travel industry.

Sponsored by Belmond, the event kicked off on February 8 with a welcome from Damian McCabe, founder and CEO; Kathy Johns, senior director of sales; and Amanda Halacy, senior director of development and strategy. The day’s agenda included an overview of the company’s achievements in 2023, showcasing strong revenue growth, the introduction of new advisor tools, a successful rebranding initiative, marked by the unveiling of a new website (www.mccabeworld.com) and honors such as the Forbes Five Star-endorsed agency recognition.

The afternoon continued with the presentation of Advisor Awards. Michelle Bemis received the Top Producer, Overall, award, while Carol Flax was honored as Top Producer, Independent. Pam Hegner secured the Highest Growth award, and Lisa Cohen-Dumani received the Slacker Award for the best use of the Slack platform. Judi Glass was the Slacker Award Runner-up, and Jeremy Gurvitch received the Zoomie Award for attending the most educational Zoom meetings. Helena Herzberg and Ali Taylor were recognized with Extra Mile Awards.

Following an evening of networking and learning with hotel partners, participants gathered in Salamander’s Living Room for a reception hosted by the resort. Day Two was marked by productive one-on-one meetings between advisors and supplier partners. A surprise celebrity appearance from “Cupcake,” the mini horse, added a delightful touch to the proceedings. The day concluded with a celebratory event at Lost Barrel Brewery.

In support of McCabe World Travel’s commitment to sustainability, donations were made on behalf of the participants to three organizations in lieu of traditional branded items: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, The Trevor Project and Mission Blue.
