AmaWaterways Announces Partnership with Master Chef Joanne Weir

AmaWaterways has announced its partnership with Master Chef and James Beard Award-winning cookbook author Joanne Weir. With this collaboration, the river cruise line is now the lead sponsor of her new PBS series, “Plates and Places with Joanne Weir.” Two episodes of the series, set to debut in February 2018, were filmed in the fall during AmaWaterways’ Enchanting Rhine river cruise on board the AmaKristina, showcasing the culinary highlights of the ship.

During the cruise, Weir gave cooking demonstrations to the guests and made contributions to the tasting menu at the Chef’s Table restaurant.

The river cruise line will continue its collaboration with Weir by presenting the special sailing, Taste of Bordeaux – Culinary Cruise Hosted by Joanne Weir. The seven-night cruise aboard the AmaDolce will depart on July 26, 2018 and sail through the Bordeaux region of France along the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers. On the cruise, travelers will have the opportunity to engage with Weir on board and during shore excursions. She will also give culinary presentations on board, which are open to all guests.

The Culinary Cruise will take travelers through Bordeaux, one of the wine capitals of the world, and offer a choice of complimentary shore excursions highlighting French culture, food, and wine, including visits to vineyards and a wine festival exclusive to AmaWaterways' guests.

Led by local guides, guests will travel through the vineyards of Saint-Émilion, Pauillac, Pomerol and Libourne for a lesson in winemaking. The cruise will also include a tasting at the 14th-century Château de Montaigne, once the former residence of French philosopher Michel de Montaigne. Optional pre-cruise stays in Paris or a post-cruise tour of the Loire Valley are also available.
