Aqua Expeditions Returns to the Mekong

Aqua Expeditions has announced the return of its river cruise ship, Aqua Mekong. On September 23, the ship resumed operations along Vietnam and Cambodia’s Mekong River. Aqua Mekong offers three-, four- and seven-night itineraries with scheduled departures from Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

Originally launched in 2014, Aqua Mekong showcases contemporary design and interiors by Noor Design. The ship’s 20 suites have full-length windows for panoramic views. Common areas include a refreshed infinity pool deck and al fresco dining area on the sun deck, barbecue area, gym, spa, games room, theater-style screening room and artisanal boutique. Aqua Mekong operates a fleet of four military-grade tenders on which guests can explore the calm waters.

Guests can enjoy local flavors created by Australian Michelin-starred chef, David Thompson. Aqua Expeditions also hosts onboard cooking classes. The ship’s bar menu is designed by Proof & Company.

On September 23, the seven-night expedition cruise sailed north along the Mekong from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap for its first post-pandemic sailing. The itinerary featured twice-daily excursions. Activities included cycling through the countryside on mountain bikes, tuk-tuk rides and guided visits to the riverside markets, villages and holy sites.

During low-water season on the Mekong, Aqua Expeditions offers a Siem Reap extension for exclusive access to Angkor Wat. Luxury land transfer and flight costs are included in the cruise fare. While most other cruises make this trip via a five-hour bus ride, Aqua Expeditions provides a luxurious alternative.
