As Cunard nears the six-month countdown to the launch of its new ship, it has offered an exclusive preview of Queen Anne’s wellness offering. The 3,000-guest ship is currently under construction at the Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Venice, and the line recently invited a group of travel advisor partners for a behind-the-scenes tour.
Queen Anne will house a range of fitness, beauty, thermal and spa facilities with its Mareel Wellness & Beauty concept. Queen Anne’s Wellness Club will also offer a customized program for solo travelers, who can relax and unwind together at a meet-and-greet with like-minded guests.
One of Queen Anne’s wellness spaces includes The Pavilion, an open-air oasis on the top deck, which has a glass dome roof that retracts in warmer climes. The multi-purpose space, designed by David Collins Studio, of Harrods and Claridge’s fame, weaves together several wellness elements and will encompass the top deck Wellness Studio, open from sunrise to sunset, as well as the Wellness Café, an alternative dining experience that will offer a mix of seasonal and nutritious dishes. The Wellness Café will cater for breakfast, lunch and daytime diners, showcasing plant-based foods and sustainably sourced meat, dairy and fish options.
Architect Martin Francis, who supported with engineering the Louvre Pyramid in Paris, led a redesigning of the glass dome, which will now have a refined arched steel frame to maximize height and light in the space as it stretches up and aft to create the new Wellness Studio.
The tour was hosted by Captain Inger Thorhauge, the luxury cruise line’s first female captain, who will be at the helm for Queen Anne’s inaugural voyage from Southampton to Lisbon on May 3, 2024.
Good to know: Within the first month of welcoming Queen Anne into its fleet, Cunard will be offering opportunities for up to 500 of its most engaged travel advisor partners from around the world to step onboard during a variety of activations. The line will be hosting advisors on two overnight experiences from Southampton as part of its operational sales drive. More details on how travel advisors can be involved with these events have yet to be announced.
