Buzz: Hotel Missoni Mauritius to Open in 2014

Hotel MissoniEver since the Milan-based fashion house turned its gaze on the hospitality world, partnering with the Rezidor Hotel Group to open a fashion-focused property in Edinburgh, followed by hotels in Kuwait and (soon) the Turkish Riviera, Oman, and Brazil, we’ve been keeping a close eye on Missoni’s moves. Next up? A resort decked out with custom-designed Missoni textiles overlooking the village Baie du Cap on the dreamy island of Mauritius. Slated to open in 2014, the Hotel Missoni Mauritius will have 80 suites with locally-inspired outdoor living areas and unending views of the sea.

A big part of this new luxury hotel concept-- beyond the beautiful interiors-- are the restaurants inspired by "the warmth and colour of Italian family life." Building on the success of the Hotel Missoni’s established culinary outlets, the Mauritius hotel will offer the Choco Café (showcasing the Italian passion for coffee) and the signature Cucina restaurant-- serving up Italian family recipes from Rosita Missoni’s personal repertoire. From the long stretch of palm-fringed sandy beach, guests will be able to partake in a number of leisure activities like deep sea fishing. There will also be a fitness club, tennis court, kids club, outdoor pools, and a massive spa.
