Frontiers International Offers Yoga Retreats in Kenya

In honor of National Yoga Day on June 21, Frontiers International Travel and Great Plains Conservation have announced two new Wild Studio Yoga retreats in Africa. These four-night retreats will take place on the edge of the Chyulu Hills in southern Kenya, where guests will enjoy sunrise and sunset meditation and yoga sessions with views across the wildlife-filled plains to Mt. Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak. Trips are scheduled for November 30 – December 4, 2018, and December 4 – 8, 2018. The yoga packages include internal flights, the yoga program, accommodations at ol Donyo Lodge, meals, drinks and activities. No single supplement charge applies.

Guests will enjoy luxury accommodations, guiding, service and cuisine at the ol Donyo Lodge. A member of both Relais & Chateaux and National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World, the sustainable lodge offers seven suites built into the rock of surrounding volcanic lava flows, each with private plunge pools and rooftop star beds.

The retreat program will include sunrise yoga, workshops that further guests’ yoga knowledge, sunset meditation and/or restorative yoga practice. Sessions will be led by Binita Shah, a conservationist and yoga teacher who has been practicing for over 10 years. Shah currently runs Hatha yoga classes for adults as well as therapy yoga covering back pain, stress and anxiety. Each class is planned so that the student understands the benefits of yoga postures and walk away with new information.

In between these yoga sessions there will be adapted activities that the lodge normally offers, including silent, guided walking safaris, horse riding, cycling and exploration of lava tunnels. Day and night game drives are also available. Guests can add on a safari, gorilla trek or beach holiday in East Africa that will allow further exploration of the cultures, wildlife and landscapes of this part of the world.

Non yoga-participating partners are also welcome and can enjoy any of the lodge activities and can dip into or out of any of the activities the yoga group will be doing.
