Experiential travel company 62ºNORD has rolled out its “Signature Adventures”—a series of themed adventures offering six-day itineraries. Visitors can enjoy access to the Sunnmøre region on the north-west coast of Norway whilst exploring cycling routes with “Ride the Fjords,” and epic roads with “Drive the Fjords,” besides hotel stays in the region along the way. Additional itineraries, including “Ski the Fjords” and “Dine the Fjords” are set to be launched soon. “Signature Adventures” will be available year-round with set departure dates throughout the year
Travelers will begin the six-day itinerary at Storfjord Hotel with a welcome from the cycling guide before heading out on a gentle introductory ride, which will be followed by a lunch stop and cider-tasting session. Next, they will explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Geirangerfjord on a RIB speedboat excursion, where travelers will reunite with their bike and ride through the valleys. Visitors can enjoy an overnight stay at Hotel Union Øye, which reopens its doors on June 1, following a renovation. Next morning, visitors can head out for a challenging ride through valleys and hills towards Hjorunfjord, where a boat will take them back to the property for a gentle paced afternoon.
Next up, they can venture north through a set of switchbacks followed by a gourmet lunch coupled with views of the Norwegian Alps before speeding out towards the Festøy, ending the day at Storfjord Hotel. Travelers will also be treated to a helicopter ride. The flight offers a birds-eye view of the region, delivering them to the Troll Wall, Europe’s tallest vertical rock face. Here, cyclists can conquer the switchback corners and take in the views from the 3,609-foot-high peak before a descent back down the fjord. The last day of the trip will see guests cycle a 25-mile loop of hills and fjords. Alternatively, guests can relax with a spa treatment amongst the surroundings of the fjord.
“Drive the Fjords” offers car-lovers the chance to discover some of Norway’s top driving routes, including the Trollstigen mountain pass, full of hairpin bends; Geiranger fjord and along the Atlantic Ocean Road, as showcased in the James Bond classic, “No Time to Die,” whilst driving the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo. The new, all-electric car features an off-road design, 571PS overboost maximum power with launch control and an acceleration of 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds.
The six-day itinerary begins with a stay at the Storfjord Hotel, where guests will receive an overview of the route before driving north towards the Atlantic Ocean Road. They can head out with a pre-packed picnic basket, complete with local produce, cheeses, meats, berries and Champagne. The next part of the adventure can be enjoyed by helicopter, with a birds-eye-view.
The next stop will be the Troll Wall. They can drive deeper through the winding roads around the Romsdal Mountains towards the Valdal Valley, enjoying views of the Trollstigen. Visitors can catch a ferry across to Stranda and stop at viewpoints along the way, overlooking the Geirangerfjord, en route to Hotel Union Øye. From there, they can discover the coastline towards Stryn, and enjoy a cable car ride for an awe-inspiring view at the summit. What follows is a switchback journey to the UNESCO World Heritage listed fjord hamlet of Geiranger to board the ferry for a steam through the fjord with waterfalls cascading from cliffs towering thousands of feet high. Visitors can then explore a remote island off the west coast, where they can savor a five-course menu. Later, they can return to the property on a RIB excursion through the Storfjord.
