Aman New York to Open in Late 2020

Aman New York’s nearly 25,000-square-foot spa will have a 65-foot indoor pool.

Aman’s next “island destination” is an unexpected one: New York City. Aman New York is slated to open in late 2020 and joins the short list of urban properties for the brand.

The hotel will occupy the iconic Crown Building — at the crossroads of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, overlooking Central Park — and it will be the company’s third U.S. property after Amangiri in Utah and Amangani in Wyoming.

Good to know: The historic building is undergoing a considerable transformation by renowned architect Jean-Michel Gathy, a long-time collaborator with Aman and lead designer of Amanyara in the Turks and Caicos, Amanwana in Indonesia, Aman Sveti in Montenegro and Aman Venice.

The nearly 25,000-square-foot spa will have a 65-foot indoor swimming pool flanked by alcoves of daybeds and fire pits. It will also have a spacious double treatment room, sauna and steam rooms complemented by hot and cold plunge pools, and an outdoor terrace with cabana, daybed and fireplace.

Dining includes the subterranean Jazz Bar; the 10th-floor wraparound Garden Terrace and Cigar Bar overlooking Central Park; Arva, an Italian restaurant; Nama, Aman’s interpretation of Japan’s washoku dining and a Wine Library (available for private wine tastings and events).

Also on tap for Aman in the U.S. is a project in Florida’s South Beach, which will occupy the former Versailles Hotel and serve as the final piece of the Faena District. Aman Miami is scheduled to debut in 2023.
