New in Japan: ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa to Open on August 1

Looking for something new in Japan? The ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa is slated to open on August 1, 2019, becoming the first international luxury resort in the Oita Prefecture. Oita is a coastal prefecture on Japan’s Kyushu Island and is best-known for its onsen (hot springs); the top such option is Beppu.

Accommodations in the upcoming resort are inspired by the surrounding area. Each of the 89 guestrooms includes bamboo work created by local artists and craftsmen. Also included are a section of private open-air baths on the terraces, available in the Suites or Club Rooms, along with upgrades to the InterContinental Lounge on the third floor of the resort.

Because of the region’s natural baths and traditional hot spring heritage, the resort will have an indoor public bath, along with open-air bathing in its own space. ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa will also have a luxury spa offering revitalizing treatments and locally inspired remedies, along with a heated infinity pool.

One notable restaurant at the upcoming property is “Elements – Atelier & Bar,” offering a range of creative, seasonal dishes using locally sourced ingredients. It will be separated into a dining room, an exclusive counter seating-only atelier and a bar.

InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa also offers The Gallery—a nature-inspired meetings and events space.

To celebrate the upcoming opening, InterContinental has announced three exclusive accommodation packages:

  • The Upgraded Beppu Experience: Guests who book a minimum stay of two nights in a Deluxe Room, will be upgraded to a Premium room including breakfast for two, food and beverage credit and a special resort gift.
  • The Indulgent Experience: Guests who book a minimum stay of two nights in a Club Room, Junior Suite, or Premium Suite will indulge with access to a private spa and Club Intercontinental Lounge.
  • The Panoramic Experience: Guests who book a Panorama Suite (one or two bedrooms) with a minimum stay of two nights, will experience free transfers, welcome Champagne and a dinner in the hotel restaurant.
