Fans of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas will be psyched to hear the brand is opening lots of lovely properties in the coming year. Up first: Anantara Quy Nhon Villas in south-central Vietnam opens in January. Note: The hotel is 15 to 20 minutes outside of Quy Nhon, which is a yet-to-be-discovered city on the South China Sea. Fishing villages, rice paddies and mountains dominate the landscape.
There are just 26 pool villas — 13 on the beach, 13 on the hillside overlooking the bay. Of the one-bedroom options, we like the Anantara Beachfront Pool Villa, which has a prime location on a secluded stretch of beach, an infinity pool, a Jacuzzi, a sundeck with a dining pavilion and an in-villa wine cellar. Tip: All rooms will offer butler service.
Up in the trees on the hillside will be a “jungle spa,” with three cliffside rooms and one Thai massage pavilion overlooking the ocean. (There will also be three indoor treatment suites.) Amenities include a manicure / pedicure and hair salons, a yoga and meditation deck and a tea lounge.
There will be three dining venues, with the signature restaurant being Sea Fire Salt, which will offer Asian and local dishes. Anantara’s Dining by Design will also be available.

Tunisia is up next for Anantara, coming up in Spring 2019. Anantara Tozeur Resort is the brand’s first for North Africa and will have 93 rooms, suites and pool villas, lots of dining venues (including the outdoor Arabian Nights) and a “souq.” In early summer, Anantara Maraú Bahia Resort opens with just 30 rooms on Brazil’s coast. Expect a beachfront restaurant, a central lagoon pool with bar, a gym and tennis courts.
