Angsana Cayo Santa Maria Opens in Cuba

Angsana Cayo Santa Maria officially opened November 15, marking Angsana’s first location in the Americas and Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts’ second in Cuba. The adults-only beach resort is located on a private island off Cuba’s northern coast.

The 252-room property provides several restaurants and bars, including a beachfront grill and jazz lounge. The location will also feature the hotel chain’s award-winning Angsana Spa, which offers Asian-inspired spa treatments. Other amenities include an outdoor pool, gym and a wedding venue.

The Trump Administration recently added the resort to its list of properties Americans are not allowed to visit because the Cuban military owns them. Our sister publication, Travel Agent Central, covered all the properties on the Cuba Restricted List.

Angsana Cayo Santa Maria is accessible via a 30-mile causeway from the Cuba mainland. It is a member of Banyan Tree Group’s Angsana brand. Angsana hotels are designed to be adventurous destinations and to mix local chic with a vibrant fun-filled atmosphere.

The Banyan Tree Group is an international operator and developer of resorts, hotels, residences and spas. Its collection of brands includes Banyan Tree, Angsana, Cassia and Dhawa. The group manages and/or has ownership interests in 25 countries, across 47 hotels and resorts, 59 spas, 71 retail galleries and three golf courses.
