Barrière Group Welcomes Fourth Generation Family Leadership

Barrière, the century-old, French family-owned hotel group, has appointed Alexandre Barrière and Joy Desseigne-Barrière as chairs of the group. Together, they represent the fourth generation of the family to lead the group since its establishment by François André in 1912. The new co-chairs have bought out the shares owned by Fimalac since 2011, and have the ambition of "developing and diversifying the group’s activities, while upholding the values that have been its strength for more than a century."

As they take ownership of the group, Joy Desseigne-Barrière and Alexandre Barrière have appointed Grégory Rabuel as chief executive officer. The former chairman and chief executive officer of SFR and Altice France, Rabuel will assume the position immediately, and is tasked with leading the group towards growth, development and diversification in both French and international markets.

“Drawing on his extensive expertise in developing companies within fiercely competitive markets, Grégory will focus Barrière's French and International teams on delivering growth and innovation," said Desseigne-Barrière and Barrière. “We are thrilled to have Grégory on board as we embark on a new entrepreneurial venture.”

Rabuel added: “I am immensely proud to join this French family-owned group with over 100 years of history. Under the leadership of Joy and Alexandre, Barrière begins a new chapter. Together with our 7,000 committed and passionate colleagues, I will focus all of my efforts on kick-starting growth momentum to develop Barrière. I am determined to lead Barriere Group towards new challenging and exciting horizons while embracing the values upheld by the Barrière family.”
