Germany’s Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden Reopens

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden, Germany, has reopened following a year-long renovation. Under the motto “History retold,” the 18th-century building, with its historical details, was redesigned with great care and attention, blending comfort and technology to offer an enhanced guest experience. The hotel tapped Berlin interior designer Markus Hilzinger for the project.

The hotel’s light-flooded lobby is adorned with textile wallpaper and has warm sandstone floors and two lounge areas. The redesigned accommodations, including 180 guestrooms and 31 suites, house hand-picked furniture, artwork and historical elements incorporated into the color scheme. The suites have also been furnished with fine works of art and contemporary national and international art treasures.

Good to know: Sustainable and allergy-friendly building materials played a central role in the extensive renovation.

Culinary options at the newly remodeled Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden include the redesigned Das Palais restaurant, which serves a range of local specialties and international classics. There's additionally a new Private Dining Room available for a range of occasions. At the Kastenmeiers restaurant, gourmet chef Gerd Kastenmeier provides his guests with refined fish dishes. This maritime offering is complemented by the restaurant’s sushi and oyster bar. Another highlight is the hotel’s new patisserie, Amalie. With its cozy alcoves and delicacies created by the in-house pâtissier, Amalie invites guests to linger in the space all day.

“We are delighted to reopen this beautiful building, which is steeped in tradition, and give the people of Dresden back ‘their living room’. We are certain that the symbiosis of contemporary luxury and tradition that we have created with the redesign will delight locals, our regular guests and national and international clientele because history is preserved and, at the same time, retold here,” said Marten Schwass, the hotel’s managing director.
