Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill, Marylebone has announced the reopening of its doors to leisure guests from May 17.
While the property has remained open during previous lockdowns for those traveling for government permitted reasons, all guests will now be welcome at this central London hotel. Following a recent renovation project, guests can enjoy an enhanced experience when staying at the hotel, from new menus to refreshed public areas, and brand-new suites and events spaces.
Renovated Accommodations
Eager to focus on the domestic and family market, the hotel’s new two-bedroom suites and family rooms offer spacious accommodation with enviable views across Portman Square, and with the option to upgrade to the “Mini Marylebone Package” for kids’ amenities and activities; ideal for families wanting to benefit from the hotel’s central city location. For older families, the hotel provides the perfect base for shopping trips and London sightseeing, followed by an evening of cocktails and dining.
On the ninth floor, guests can make the most of suites, a large number of which have balconies overlooking the London rooftops, offering cozy interiors alongside extensive outside space. Also on the ninth floor, the brand new Churchill Residential Suite offers a four-bedroom self-contained haven, complete with kitchen, dining room, open-plan study and two balconies with views. Decorated with artwork carefully curated by the world-famous, Marylebone-based Thompson’s Gallery, the private art collection includes artwork by Sir Winston Churchill himself, combining antique features with modern furnishings to create a classic yet contemporary escape for guests.
Pop-Up Summer Terrace at The Churchill
The new Pop-up Summer Terrace at The Churchill launched on April 12 following the success of the alpine-themed Winter Terrace last year. Responding to demand for more outside drinking and dining options throughout the summer, the hotel team converted their forecourt, now decked out in a nautical theme and evoking the nostalgic charm of seaside towns, offering guests the chance to swap views of crashing waves with Portman Square Gardens. The à la carte menu features fresh seafood, sourced directly from the English coast by executive chef Roger Olsson with dishes, including Whitstable Oysters, Lobster and Fries, and English Burrata served with Isle of Wight Tomatoes, to be washed down with a chilled glass of wine or the signature cocktail, the whisky-based Churchill's Tot.
New Drinking and Dining Menus
Looking ahead, the imminent unveiling of new menus at the hotel restaurant, The Montagu Kitchen, and the popular The Churchill Bar & Terrace promise more exciting developments for the property.
The first menu to launch will be The World of Wanderlust at The Churchill Bar & Terrace on May 17. The brand-new menu will have a selection of curated cocktails inspired by the bar team’s own travel experiences—from hot-air ballooning over the Maasai Mara, and gliding in the Himalayas, to camping in Lake Como. The Montagu Kitchen will be launching a new menu later in the year, created by chef Olsson and his team, combining his contemporary European training with British fare and locally sourced ingredients to recreate traditional British dishes with a twist.
Brand-New Spaces and Refreshed Public Areas
The hotel’s renovation also includes the launch of an extensive set of new events spaces, suitable for weddings, bar mitzvahs, social gatherings and corporate events from June 21. As a licensed wedding venue, the hotel is a particularly good option for central London weddings, combining the reception, ceremony of any size, and the option for an outdoor photoshoot in Portman Square Gardens.
Designed by BJB designers, the refurbishment includes the renovation of six existing event areas, including two boardrooms and studio spaces, and the complete build of a brand new area: The Gallery, an expansive, light-filled space that can accommodate up to 132 people. The walls of The Gallery are adorned with artwork curated by Catherine and Randolph Churchill—the great-grandson of Sir Winston Churchill. The Library has been renovated to serve as a smaller space, catering to the demand for more intimate events, but with the ability to connect to the hotel’s largest space, the Chartwell Ballroom, if needed.
The two boardrooms are well-suited for business meetings, hosting up to eight people and are kitted out with state-of-the-art technology for presentations and to accommodate "HY-Brid Meetings."
The lobby, the heart of a hotel, also reopens with a new-look to offer upgraded interiors and comfortable seating areas to relax and unwind in.
