Jamaica’s Half Moon Announces Design Refresh of Rose Hall Villas

Jamaica’s Half Moon has announced that its Rose Hall Villas will be renovated to mark the resort’s 70th anniversary. Part of Salamander Collection, the property will completely modernize these multi-bedroom accommodations.

Located at the eastern end of Half Moon’s two miles of shorefront, the Rose Hall Villas offer an independent resort experience that caters to families and groups. With both seafront and garden view options, the five-, six- and seven-bedroom villas include a private pool, outdoor living spaces, living and dining rooms—not to mention a chef, housekeeper and butler.

The transformation, being overseen by design firm Atelier-Vidal, will retain each villa’s architectural footprint but offer an enhanced experience, including fresh layouts that optimize viewing, expansive glass-pane doors, screened windows and open-concept living with lush surroundings. The refreshed villas will sport new finishes, including wood and stone, along with modern furnishings with tropical textures, neutral color palettes and subtle regional accents.

Each villa will receive enhanced pool experiences, including cabanas with large-screen TVs, grills and expanded seating for outdoor dining and entertainment. Several villas will get new infinity edge pools overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Other additions at each accommodation include porte-cochères, new roofs, windows, doors, balconies and lush landscaping. Inside, the layouts will receive a complete makeover, including the addition of a family game room, new appliances and furniture, and upgraded bathrooms.

The first phase of the redesign will see 11 villas transformed between April and November 2024, concluding in time for Thanksgiving and the festive holiday season, while the remaining eight villas will undergo similar enhancements over the same period in 2025. Work will be conducted to minimize the impact on the guest experience.

This project is the latest in a series of improvements at Half Moon, including the recent renovation of its Hibiscus neighborhood and the 2020 opening of Eclipse at Half Moon.

In addition to its existing amenities and programming, Half Moon has announced a curated calendar of events throughout 2024 to celebrate the resort’s platinum anniversary. Guests can enjoy culinary experiences, private tastings of Half Moon’s signature chocolate and rum, farm-to-table experiences from the resort’s garden, visiting golf pros to enjoy a few games at the resort’s course, and more.

The resort has been inducted into Historic Hotels Worldwide, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation (United States of America) for recognizing and celebrating historic hotels around the globe.
