Kalesma Mykonos Reopening for Second Season With New Look

Kalesma Mykonos will soon be celebrating its first anniversary and is set to open for its 2022 season on April 21. Set on a hilltop above Ornos Bay and just under two miles from Mykonos Town, Kalesma’s suites and villas are spread across five acres and set against a hillside. All accommodations offer views of the Aegean Sea from a private patio, besides a full-sized personal heated pool.

What's new? The property has expanded 13 of its one-bedroom suites into one-bedroom villas with full outdoor kitchens and BBQs where chefs can whip up private meals in the al fresco dining room. The bar and restaurant are being updated to offer an uninterrupted view of the waters. Guests can also enjoy a weekly music night with local DJs.

At the signature restaurant Pere Ubu, veteran Greek chef Costas Tsingas offers locally sourced Cycladic specialties. Chef Costas has cooked and written about Greek cuisine. After 20 years in New York where he owned Agrotikon in the 80s, he returned to Greece to be the culinary director of the Olympic village for the Athens Olympics. The restaurant offers a selection of wines. Guests can also enjoy DJ entertainment and weekly BBQs.

Guests of Kalesma are invited to explore the island’s history, including its much-photographed windmills that date back to the 16th century—now ornamental, they were once essential to the island’s economy.

Guests can customize their itinerary with the help of Kalesma’s concierge and enjoy a range of activities, including a guided tour of Delos; yacht cruise to Rhenia Island; trekking experience; horse riding; and a coast-to-coast cruise. Watersports such as water skiing, jet skiing, tubing, fly boarding and parasailing are also available. Guests can also go shopping on Matogianni Street in Chora. The street is full of designer stores, besides shops selling souvenirs and handmade jewelry. Guests can also enjoy private yacht and helicopter tours.

Good to know: Seasonal direct flights to Greece from the U.S. are launching on March 7. Direct flights will be available from New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. The mandate for pre-travel COVID-19 testing for fully vaccinated travelers from the U.S. has also been lifted.
