The official topping-out of the first Kimpton Hotel in San Antonio has been announced by hotel management company White Lodging and its partners. The construction milestone on the 10-story building keeps the project on schedule after breaking ground in October 2022. Kimpton San Antonio is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The hotel is positioned between downtown San Antonio and the Southtown neighborhood. It offers easy access to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, the River Walk, Alamo Plaza Historic District, King William District, La Villita and Hemisfair.
Part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio, the 347-key hotel is housed in a restored and adapted German-English school from the 1800s that was originally built by German settlers. The original brick, stone and wood architecture is being restored carefully. The main historic building will be repurposed to become the property’s steakhouse. The additional historic structures are being reinvented into eight guest suites and a courtyard cocktail bar, all surrounded by protected outdoor space and century-old trees. The hotel will also offer a whiskey bar, rooftop pool and bar.
In addition to 16 luxury guest suites, Kimpton San Antonio will offer more than 11,000 square feet of meeting and event space. More information about the hotel and its F&B concepts will be announced in the coming months.
