Lucerne’s iconic Belle Époque landmark, Palace Luzern, will reopen as Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern on September 24, 2022. The newly renovated property is located on the shores of Lake Lucerne, a stone’s throw from the old town and with views over the Swiss Alps.
Local architects Iwan Bühler Architekten and London-based interior designers Jestico + Whiles were tapped for the renovation. They have delivered a contemporary design while preserving the heritage of this landmark Belle Époque building. The overall result is also a tribute to the Swiss entrepreneur Franz Josef Bucher, who realized his dream of a Mediterranean retreat when he originally built the house in 1906.
The hotel has 136 guestrooms, including 48 suites. Most of the guestrooms have private balconies or terraces. Highlights include two Panoramic Rooftop Terrace Suites with 360-degree lake and mountain views, as well as the 1,430-square-foot Presidential Suite.
The hotel offers four restaurants and bars. MOzern Bar & Brasserie is an all-day dining venue that serves Asian cuisine, classics, afternoon tea and cocktails. Overlooking Lake Lucerne, Quai 10 offers al fresco dining and Mediterranean cuisine. Colonnade will offer modern French Haute cuisine. Mizūmi will serveJapanese dishes in a six-seat dining environment. Both Colonnade and Mizūmi will open in the first quarter of 2023.
SPA Bellefontaine offers face and body treatments by the beauty brand. The wellness area offers sauna, steam bath, experiential showers and a relaxation room. The 24-hour Fitness Salon is available for guests.
With its lakeside location, Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern is also well-suited for meetings, private celebrations and social events. Each of the four newly renovated venues has natural light and offers the latest technology. Among these, Salon Alpine sports original Belle Époque décor dating to 1906; and the Edelweiss Ballroom offers lake and garden views.
Deal: To celebrate the opening, the hotel is offering two welcome packages for guests: “Be the First To Stay” and “The Ultimate Suite Experience”. Both offers include lake vistas from renovated rooms or suites, daily breakfast for two and a $100 ($150 for suites) dining credit. Guests will have complimentary access to the nearby Museum Sammlung Rosengart, known for works by European artists including Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee. Suite guests additionally benefit from a champagne welcome, complimentary valet parking and a souvenir to take home.
