New on Nantucket: The Design-Centric Hotel Pippa

The summer season may feel like it’s winding down on Nantucket—Labor Day is fast approaching—but September is also a fabulous time to soak up the charm of this beloved island destination. If you’re keen to sample the scene, there’s a hot new hotel that’s turning heads in town. In fact, Town & Country calls the Hotel Pippa “the buzziest new place to stay on Nantucket.” Launched at the end of May 2018, the property replaces the Vanessa Noel Hotel on Centre Street. It’s the brainchild of local couple Christopher and Asta Skehel, who invested seven figures in the renovation.

Behind the classic Nantucket architecture, you’ll find fun mid-century design and works by Nantucket artists. There are 17 guest rooms spread over six room categories—stocked with Matouk linens, plush bathrobes and Davines Momo bath and skincare products. Top digs: The two-bedroom suite is billed as an “expansive Nantucket residence,” equipped with a living room, two queen bedrooms, and a large bathroom.

The continental breakfast highlights local ingredients, and complimentary beach chairs and towels are available. As reported by Town & Country, Hotel Pippa is more “lifestyle concept” than hotel, as the property, and “its immediate surroundings, form a cluster of establishments that are working to elevate the culture and experience of Nantucket.” Located off the lobby is Petrichor Wine Bar, owned by Sommelier Jill Viselli; guests can even enjoy the bar’s drinks, and light menu items, in their own rooms. The in-the-know hotel team is also happy to make restaurant recommendations, and organize fishing trips or cooking classes for gourmet-minded travelers.
