Now Open: Gleneagles Townhouse

Gleneagles Townhouse officially opened its doors in Edinburgh recently, exclusively to members and hotel guests. Its all-day restaurant, The Spence, will open to the wider public on June 27.

Over the past five years, Ennismore Design Studio has restored the listed building, creating 33 rooms, some of which overlook St Andrew Square. At the heart of this building lies The Spence. It is an airy, social space offering modern-style brasserie dining, from Bloody Mary breakfasts to dynamic dinners. Spence will be helmed by Jonny Wright, the head chef, who returns to his native Scotland with more than 16 years of experience. The central bar in the restaurant sits underneath a glass-domed ceiling serving up a seasonally rotating, locally inspired list of cocktails, local whiskeys, beers, spirits and wine curated by bar manager, Stefanie Anderson.

Down in the bank’s former vault, Townhouse resident guests and members enjoy access to The Strong Rooms, a dedicated training, treatments and therapies space. It offers bespoke experiences for holistic wellness, including a cryotherapy chamber and infrared sauna, alongside the gym and wellness studios.

The Members’ Club features two exclusive spaces. While the Note Burning Room is designed for breakfast meetings, brunches and long, leisurely lunches, The Telling Rooms is a co-working space, ideal for relaxed remote working.

The roof terrace bar Lamplighters, open exclusively to members and hotel guests, offers views of the city’s medieval Old Town to the left and New Town to the right.
