Now Open: The Peninsula London

The Peninsula London has opened its doors in Belgravia, where Hyde Park Corner meets the Wellington Arch just steps away from Buckingham Palace, Knightsbridge and other landmarks. Decades in the making, it is the first British hotel (and the 12th overall) from the nearly century-old Peninsula brand.

The Peninsula London’s 131 guestrooms and 59 suites start at 538 square feet and host bespoke furnishings, textiles, original artworks, mahogany-paneled dressing rooms, bathrooms of honey onyx stoneware and customized fittings crafted by British artisans. Additionally, 25 exclusive luxury residences offer The Peninsula’s signature service for owners.

On the eighth floor, the hotel’s signature rooftop restaurant, Brooklands, offers Modern British cuisine as well as libations in a collection of spaces inspired by the classic eras of British aviation and motorsport by architects Archer Humphryes. It comprises a main dining room with an outdoor terrace, home to an overhead scale model of the Concorde and an automotive-themed bar with décor that incorporates rare motoring memorabilia and a rotating display of original classic race cars from the Brooklands racetrack and museum. A cigar tasting lounge, complete with a walk-in humidor with private cigar lockers, is also available.

On the ground floor, Canton Blue will serve Chinese dishes along with cocktails and artisanal teas. The restaurant is divided into several areas at different levels, including the ground-floor Little Blue Bar. At The Lobby, traditional Peninsula Afternoon Tea and globally inspired fare are served. A more casual offering, including fresh-made salads, sandwiches and sweets, is available throughout the day at The Peninsula Boutique and Café.

The Peninsula London

Opening in November, The Peninsula Spa and Wellness Centre will offer a range of therapies, a wellness program, a fitness studio and an 82-foot indoor swimming pool. The hotel’s ground-floor retail arcade offers nine luxury boutiques, including Asprey London, DMR – David M Robinson Jewellery and Watches, Mouawad, Moussaieff Diamonds, opening before Christmas.

Also available from November, the hotel’s special event venues include the St. George Ballroom, which offers two elevators large enough for motorcars. The ballroom can accommodate up to 450 guests. Other options include a collection of flexible conference rooms and a plush private cinema for up to 15 guests.

As with all Peninsula properties, this hotel also offers a range of in-room amenities and technology, destination-specific arts programs and cultural experiences, global proprietary services such as Peninsula Time (fully flexible check-in and check-out) and PenChat (access to a 24-hour digital concierge).

Tip: For a limited time, The Peninsula London’s inaugural offer starting at £1,300 ($1,613) includes daily breakfast for two, Peninsula Time, use of a House car and complimentary airport pick-up for all suite reservations.
