Riggs Washington D.C. Partners with RdV Vineyards

Riggs Washington D.C., a 181-room hotel in Penn Quarter, set in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank, is partnering with RdV Vineyards, a winery situated on a steep, granite hillside 60 miles outside of Washington D.C., to offer wine tasting experiences exclusive to Riggs guests.

Riggs and RdV have created two exclusive experiences offering guests an opportunity to enjoy the best of both the hotel and vineyard. The “Riggs Suite x RdV Overnight Package” will give guests an opportunity to stay in the most luxurious accommodation in the hotel, the Riggs Suite. Housed in the historic boardroom of Riggs National Bank, the Riggs Suite has a dining room, living room, two adjoining guestrooms and a bar, with many of the room’s original features preserved, including ornate ceiling details and a large fireplace. Guests will be welcomed with a rare bottle of RdV wine, along with expertly paired bites from Café Riggs.

During their stay, guests will visit RdV’s hillside winery just one hour outside of Washington, D.C. for an exclusive tasting experience, where they will be guided through a comparative flight of RdV’s library vintages and benchmark wines. They will then enjoy a private lunch hosted by founder and Vigneron Rutger de Vink and Winemaker Joshua Grainer, accompanied by RdV’s best vintages and wines from de Vink’s personal cellar. Guests will go home with an RdV Envoy membership, beating the extensive wait list. The membership includes four bottles of the vineyard’s wine per year, as well as access to their library, large format bottles and invitations to member only events.

The second experience is the “Bookable Tasting Tour,” which can be added by Riggs guests to their stay in any of the hotel’s guestrooms. As part of the experience, upon arrival at RdV vineyards, guests will be greeted with a glass of champagne and a tin of Petrossian Ossetra Caviar. Guests will then be guided through a private tour of the vineyard, beginning in the vines and including visits to the fermentation room and caves. Following the tour, guests will taste a comparative flight featuring highly allocated selections from Napa and Bordeaux paired with charcuterie boards. Guests will leave with a bottle of RdV’s Friends & Family wine, currently only available to the vineyard’s ambassadors, and now Riggs guests.
