Now Open: The Shanghai EDITION

Ian Schrager has brought his modern luxury brand, EDITION Hotels, to Shanghai.

Marrying “the best of the old world and the new,” The Shanghai EDITION, also a part of Marriott International, is housed in two buildings: An Art Deco building that served as the former headquarters of Shanghai Power Company, which houses the public areas of the hotel (its lobby, restaurant, multiple bars, night club, spa and event areas); and a brand-new skyscraper development, where the 145 rooms and suites, as well as several additional dining spaces are located.

Nice Touch: Guestroom beds have luxury Anichini linens; bathrooms are finished in white marble and have custom-scented Le Labo amenities.

Shanghai Tavern is an all-day brasserie, and HIYA is a Japanese restaurant — both by Michelin-star chef Jason Atherton. There is a Punch Room, an outpost of the popular cocktail lounge at The London EDITION. Cantonese food will be served at Canton Disco, while The Club Room is meant to serve up a “gentleman’s club” vibe. We expect the Electric Circus nightclub and the garden rooftop bar with 360-degree views of Shanghai and a full movie theater to be hits with guests and chic locals.

The spa has six treatment rooms and suites, manicure and pedicure services, a sauna, and a large relaxation area with a bar and a retail boutique. Guests at the spa can enjoy authentic Asian treatments inspired by western rituals. It will be stocked with products from Amala and Intraceuticals.

The hotel is just a five-minute walk from The Bund.
