Shangri-La’s Maldives Resort Announces 2018 Seasonal Programs

Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives announced its lineup of activities and experiences for this holiday season, including a New Year’s Eve performance by ABBA tribute act BABBA, a pop-up bar from Buddha-Bar Beach, residencies with famous golf, tennis and Zumba professionals, special dining menus and more.

The international pan-Asian restaurant brand Buddha-Bar will come to Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives in the form of a pop-up beach bar. Bringing the brand’s award-winning dishes to Maldives will be executive bar chef Mathias Giroud. Elsewhere in the hotel, several of the property’s restaurants will offer a special festive menu.

BABBA, an ABBA tribute band with over 20 years of experience, will perform the iconic Swedish band’s hits. During the performance, Manzaru Bar will serve guests ABBA-themed cocktails, including Mamma Mia Margaritas and espresso-based Dancing Queens.

Visitors looking to learn from the best will have plenty of opportunities this holiday season. From December 1 to January 31, 2019, Italian professional golfer Barbara Borin will lead group classes and one-on-one sessions. Professional tennis coach Eli Rousset, the winner of eleven ATP tournaments in doubles and one in singles, will lead a tennis clinic from December 17 to January 6, 2019. Zumba guru Steve Boedt will host a Zumba residency from December 17 to 28.

On December 22 and 25, the local choir Villingili Voices will sing for guests during the traditional lighting of the Villingili Christmas tree. Children will also be able to join the fun with a talent show on December 24 and an “Island Fashion Show” on December 21 and 29.
