Relais & Châteaux Adds Japan and Italy Hotels to Collection

Relais & Châteaux has welcomed two new properties to its collection: The Kitano Hotel Tokyo, Japan and Pieve Aldina, Radda in Chianti, Italy.

The Kitano Hotel Tokyo

The Kitano Hotel Tokyo has 72 rooms, including four suites, and starts from €250 to €1300 per night.

Nestled in the heart of Japan’s capital, The Kitano Hotel Tokyo is a contemporary destination whose address in Chiyoda City, Japan’s center of political power, is ideally located to explore the city’s most famous sights. It’s just a short walk to the Imperial Palace Gardens, where one can go for a run or take a stroll among blossoming akura trees and lush green lawns.

Bathed in natural light, the rooms at the hotel are designed with simplicity, including cherry or sycamore wood furniture. The hotel’s spa, which offers acupuncture sessions and well-being treatments that combine the best of Chinese and Western traditions, is the ideal place to rebalance mind and body—and is complemented by a gym where one can work out with a personal trainer.

At the end of the day, the hotel’s rooftop bar offers panoramic views of Tokyo’s urban jungle. Dining options at the hotel include Sant Pau Restaurant (60 seats), Sushi Ohmi (sushi restaurant with 14 seats), Tea Lounge Kafu (tea lounge with 24 seats) & Kitano Arms Lounge (rooftop bar with 17 seats inside and 28 places on the terrace).

Pieve Aldina, Radda in Chianti, Italy

Pieve Aldina, Radda will open in June 2023. There are 21 rooms (including 16 suites), and the price startes from €550 per night.

The main restaurant has 50 seats, plus an additional 80 seats on the terrace and a wine cellar opening in June.

In the heart of Chianti, Pieve Aldina embodies the spirit of a time-old Italian village. Located on the Chiantigiana, the wine route that connects Siena to Florence, this hotel invites guests to fully immerse themselves in Tuscany. Surrounded by vineyards, cypress trees and nearly 100 acres (40 hectares) of olive groves, the main building dates from the 11th century and once served as a summer residence for the bishops of Siena.

Attached to the property, the Roman consecrated church of Santa Maria Novella testifies to the religious past of the place. Inside the historic building, its terracotta floors, beamed ceilings and archways are mostly original expressions of the traditional local architectural style. Divided between three buildings, one of which can be entirely reserved, spacious rooms and suites offer views of the surrounding countryside. The region’s rich regional culinary heritage and flagship local products are honored in two restaurants and a wine cellar. The expansive terrace welcomes diners for a tasty and authentic experience overlooking the valley. After a day of oenological discoveries in region’s wine cellars or a cooking class to learn how to make fresh pasta, enjoy a well-being break with a relaxing massage or in the swimming pool.
