V Retreats Opens Two Newly Refreshed Hotels in Taormina, Sicily

V Retreats has refreshed and reopened its two five-star, waterfront luxury hotels in Taormina, Sicily for the season. Atlantis Bay debuts newly renovated rooms, including five brand-new luxury suites, and redesigned common lounge areas, all overlooking the private Bay of Sirens. Sister property Mazzarò Sea Palace, which is just down the waterfront but located on a sandy beach on Mazzarò Bay, has refreshed its dining concepts, with a new gourmet restaurant BLUM, set on two small terraces facing the Bay, and a new look for its signature restaurant, Armònia.

Both hotels are positioned along the Mediterranean Sea in one of the most exclusive parts of Sicily—the setting of the popular HBO series, "The White Lotus" and a strategic point for exploring the island.

Just off a renovation, Atlantis Bay is built into the hillside’s volcanic rock and set on a private cove called Mermaid’s Bay—one of the most picturesque spots on the Sicilian coast. Its waterfront restaurant, newly refreshed seafront deck, pool, fitness center and rooms all face the private cove with expansive windows and terraces to soak up the views of the quiet setting. For the 2023 season, which began April 1, Atlantis Bay is offering more luxury suite product. Of the hotel’s 71 rooms, 13 are newly renovated into Deluxe Suites, while five standard rooms were expanded to create larger Sea View Suites.

Mazzarò Sea Palace also faces the Mediterranean Sea, but this resort enjoys a sandy beachfront with lounge beds and a view bookended by large volcanic rocks rising from the sea. Each of the rooms has large terraces facing the sea, many with their own plunge pools.

The new gourmet restaurant, BLUM, set alongside the pool on two small terraces facing the sea, offers a refined menu based on local Sicilian ingredients. The new restaurant, which will open in May, joins the hotel’s signature Armònia restaurant, which has a new look this season. And along with its Almarè bar, each overlook the bay of Mazzarò from panoramic terraces. All gastronomic experiences at Mazzarò are helmed by Chef Riccardo Fazio; dishes might include a tuna tartare starter prepared with Bronte pistachio powder, saffron blood orange chips and red onion ice cream; and a cannoli re-invented, stuffed with creamed cod, cheese and pepper fondue and crispy bacon.
