Waldorf Astoria Expands in Africa and Middle East

Waldorf Astoria has announced its expansion in Africa and the Middle East with two new openings: Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island and Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay in Qatar.

Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island houses a collection of 50 seafront villas with personal concierge services. The villas range from one to three bedrooms as well as a five-bedroom villa with gardens. In addition, the resort offers six restaurants and bars, including the Peacock Terrace, Maison Des Epices, the Creole-Latin fusion restaurant; La Perle Mediterranean restaurant; Lalin bar; and Torti, the pool and beach bar. Moulin is set to open later this year. It will operate as a cooking school during the day and transform into a restaurant at night. Other facilities include a signature spa, fitness center, the Sea Scouts Kids Club and the Marine Mavericks Teens Club.

Elsewhere, the newly opened Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay is a 44-story property with 283 rooms and suites, as well as 50 apartments with personal concierge services.

Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay houses a variety of F&B venues including: the signature Peacock Alley; Ledoux, a patisserie; The Cortland Bar; Al Fayrouz Terrace, which offers Levantine cuisine and shisha; and Tribeca Market, which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner from five different live stations. Additional venues that are set to open soon include MURU, which will be helmed by Michelin-starred Italian-Argentine chef Mauro Colagreco; and YUN, where guests will dine on modern Cantonese and Taishanese cuisine.

Stretching from the 39th to the 43rd floor, the Waldorf Astoria Spa offers a range of wellness experiences, all with views of Qatar’s skyline. Guests can expect salt inhalation relaxation and hydrotherapy pools, thermal experiences including sensory rain walk, a salon, relaxation zones with private Alpha sphere experiences, and treatment suites. The spa also has a dedicated fitness floor with both a mixed and a ladies-only fitness center, yoga and meditation studios, as well as separate juice bars for men and women. Guests can also take a dip in the 85-foot indoor pool or unwind at the spa’s separate men’s and women’s pools with heated loungers.
